Honoring the life you have lived. Making room for what still matters.

Later life can hold beauty, freedom, humor, wisdom, and relief. It can also bring changes no one is fully prepared for: the death of someone you love, a change in health or mobility, retirement, caregiving, loneliness, trauma that resurfaces, or the quiet realization that life no longer looks the way it once did.

Gratia Plena Therapies LLC provides telehealth counseling with a primary focus on adults age 55 and older, along with support for caregivers navigating the emotional demands of caring for someone they love. Therapy is a place to speak honestly about what has changed, what hurts, what you miss, what you fear, and what you still hope for.

Sometimes the hardest changes are not dramatic enough for other people to recognize as grief. A person may stop driving and lose not only transportation, but spontaneity. A change in strength may make ordinary routines feel less private or independent. Retirement may bring freedom and, at the same time, unsettle a role that once gave structure and identity. A diagnosis may change how you imagine the future. The death of a spouse, sibling, friend, or companion may alter the shape of everyday life.

These experiences deserve more than a quick reassurance to “stay positive.” They deserve room. In therapy, we can make room for sorrow without assuming sorrow is the end of the story. We can acknowledge what has been lost while also asking what remains possible, meaningful, useful, connected, and alive.

You are more than what you have lost. Your story is still being lived.

My approach is relational, person-centered, and grounded in deep respect for the person in front of me. I believe good therapy is not a performance of expertise from across the room. It is a careful relationship in which your experience is taken seriously, your autonomy is protected, and you have space to speak in your own language and at your own pace.

For people who are interested, our work may also include gentle expressive or creative practices. These are optional ways of reflecting, remembering, noticing, or giving form to experiences that are difficult to put into words. I am not an art therapist and do not provide art therapy; I draw from my education in expressive therapeutic arts as one possible complement to counseling.

You do not have to arrive with the right words. You do not have to know exactly what you need. You can begin with what is true today.
