Telehealth and what to expect
Telehealth allows you to meet with me by secure video from a private location that works for you. For some people, especially those managing mobility changes, transportation concerns, caregiving responsibilities, health conditions, or distance, virtual counseling can make regular support more practical.
You do not need to be “good at technology” to benefit from telehealth. Before your first appointment, you will receive instructions for accessing the secure session platform
Your first session
The first session is a chance for us to begin getting to know one another. I will ask about what brings you to therapy, what has been happening in your life, what you hope might change, and any important history you want me to understand. You can also ask questions about my approach and decide whether the relationship feels like a good fit.
You do not need to tell your entire life story in the first hour. We will go at a pace that respects both the work and your readiness.
What sessions may feel like
Some sessions may be reflective and conversational. Others may focus on a current decision, a difficult feeling, a relationship, a memory, or a practical coping strategy. If expressive or creative approaches interest you, we may incorporate them thoughtfully and optionally.
The work is collaborative. I bring clinical training, curiosity, and perspective. You bring the authority of having lived your own life.
Privacy and location
Because professional counseling licenses are regulated by location, telehealth services can only be provided when you are physically located in a jurisdiction where I am authorized to practice.
